FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can I start exercising after having a baby?

As soon as you have had your 6 or 8 week sign off from your GP and you feel ready to start exercising again.  Every mum is different so we encourage you to start when it feels right for you.

I haven’t attended a fitness class before - do I need any previous knowledge or experience?

Our classes cater to the unique needs of mothers who have recently given birth, so don’t worry if you’ve not done any training before!  You’ll be joined by lots of new mums starting the classes for the first time so you won’t be alone. The exercises will be clearly explained and demonstrated so don’t worry if you don’t get everything right first time. Classes are structured and personalised to support you and help you to strengthen all the muscles that got weaker during pregnancy.

Have I left it too late to start a postnatal fitness programme?

It’s never too late to start exercising!  We welcome all mums to our classes, whether you’ve just had a baby, a couple of months into parenthood or have a toddler and beyond.

What should I bring for the class?

Bring your own mat, water bottle and don't forget your baby :)

What should I wear?

You need to wear suitable clothing as this is an outdoor class that takes place all year around. Think rain jacket when it rains, layers including hat and gloves in winter, sunscreen and hat in summer etc.

What if my baby cries during the class?

It’s normal for babies to cry at some point in the class! It’s absolutely your decision if you want to stop and comfort them and of course you can step aside to feed or change the baby whenever you need.  It’s good to be prepared by bringing along your change bag plus some milk, food and toys to keep them happy. We also advise making sure you have a rain cover/sun shade for the buggy as we exercise in all weather.
